TFWA 2023, known for its focus on duty-free and travel retail, took a heartwarming turn as WiTR+ hosted a remarkable fundraising event at Diageo's Majeic Beach venue during the early hours of Tuesday's festivities. The primary purpose of this event was to raise funds for the Koma Karanth Foundation, a noble cause dedicated to creating a safe community for women and children. Actor, producer, writer, humanitarian, and comedian Karanth spearheads this worthy charity. He explained the Foundation's diverse initiatives, including building 27 homes, establishing a tutoring college, an old-age home, providing free lunches for tribal children, offering free school transport, supplying water to tribal villages, creating typhoon shelters, and supporting single mothers in running their businesses independently. The evening's fundraising efforts far exceeded expectations, with a target of €15,000 set and an astounding double that amount raised. Sarah Branquinho, the founder member and Chair of WiTR+, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support. Sponsors of the evening included Diageo Global Travel, Victoria's Secret, and Tumi. Victoria's Secret's generous contribution of €12,000 not only doubled the fundraising efforts but also emphasized the brand's commitment to making a positive impact. The charity received a symbolic giant cheque from Victoria's Secret, making it a memorable moment of philanthropy at TFWA 2023.
