Meta, Hugging Face, and Scaleway Unveil the 5 Winners of the AI Startup Initiative

Meta, Hugging Face, and Scaleway Unveil the 5 Winners of the AI Startup Initiative: Last November, Meta collaborated with the open-source collaborative platform Hugging Face and Scaleway, a leading European cloud provider for AI infrastructures, to launch the "AI Startup Program." This initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of open-source AI solutions within the French entrepreneurial ecosystem. Meta and its partners announced yesterday the names of the five winners of this mentoring program.

The AI Startup Program aims to support five startups in the acceleration phase until June 2024. Launched at Station F campus, similar to Microsoft's "Microsoft Generative AI Startup Program," which focuses on generative AI, Meta's program primarily aims to promote open source. The presented projects were required to rely on open foundation models and/or demonstrate their commitment to integrating these models into their products and services.

The selected startups will receive technical mentoring from researchers, engineers, or Ph.D. candidates from FAIR, Meta's artificial intelligence research lab led by Yann Le Cun. They will also have access to Hugging Face's platform and tools, computing power from Scaleway, and support from the HEC incubator.

Laurent Solly, Vice President of Southern Europe at Meta, emphasized:

"We are very proud to support these five innovative projects within the AI Startup Program. For over 10 years, Meta has been contributing to the development of the French AI ecosystem through an open and collaborative approach. This program strengthens our contribution, and I am delighted that most startups integrate open-source models such as Llama2 and DinoV2, designed within our fundamental research laboratory FAIR, based in Paris."

    • Offers an open-source humanoid platform that combines AI and robotics to address research and industry needs.
  3. Fringuant:
    • Co-founded by Jacques Allibert, Lancelot Convertir, Clément Poiret, and Zoé Tournant.
