Saud bin Saqr Receives Ras Al Khaimah Government Energy Management Teams and Applauds International Standard Accreditation
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, emphasized that the adoption of sustainability concepts and the enhancement of energy management and renewable energy efficiency in both the public and private sectors align with the UAE national program goals for achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This progress is in line with the pursuit of sustainable development and the preservation of natural resources for future generations.
The occasion was marked by His Highness's reception of energy management teams from Ras Al Khaimah government agencies, following the accreditation of all government departments in Ras Al Khaimah with the ISO 50001 international standard for energy management systems. This achievement makes Ras Al Khaimah government the world's first to obtain this international accreditation across all its departments.
His Highness stated, "As the UAE prepares to host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), Ras Al Khaimah is committed to reinforcing our efforts in implementing sustainable development principles and fostering new initiatives and projects that contribute to shaping a more sustainable future for generations to come. This aligns with our nation's ambitions and continuous efforts to address global challenges related to climate change impacts through international cooperation and dialogue."
He added, "This accomplishment signifies a significant step towards realizing the goals of Ras Al Khaimah's 2040 energy efficiency and renewable energy strategy. Through this, we affirm our commitment to consolidating best practices and adopting innovative and pioneering solutions and policies in the field of renewable energy and sustainability within the public and private sectors in Ras Al Khaimah, ensuring the achievement of sustainable development and the creation of a brighter and better future for all."
His Highness commended the hard work of the various government departments in Ras Al Khaimah and stressed the need to continue preserving these achievements while making substantial progress in realizing the objectives of the Ras Al Khaimah Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Strategy 2040.
