Qatar National Flag Raised at the Asian Para Games Village in Hangzhou, China

Hangzhou, China - October 20, 2023 - Today, a flag-raising ceremony was held at the sports village for the Asian Para Games in the city of Hangzhou, China, marking the official start of the event. The games are scheduled to run from this coming Sunday until October 28th, with the participation of 43 countries.

During the ceremony, the Qatari national anthem was played, and it was attended by Mr. Abdulqader Al Mutawa, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Paralympic Committee, and Mr. Luo Chuangxiang, the mayor of the sports village. Commemorative shields were exchanged at the conclusion of the flag-raising ceremony.

The head of the Qatari delegation expressed his delight at the opportunity to raise Qatar's flag at the sports village, extending his best wishes to the athletes for their success in this edition of the games.

It was also announced that Qatari athlete Mohammed Al Kubaisi will be one of the torchbearers, and both Mohammed Al Kubaisi and Sarah Masoud will carry the Qatari flag during the opening ceremony of the fourth edition of the Asian Para Games this coming Sunday.

The Qatari delegation for this event consists of 18 members, including 9 athletes, one female athlete, 4 coaches, a technical director, and a physiotherapist.

Qatar's delegation will participate in athletics competitions with three athletes: Abdulrahman Abdulqader (discus throw) and his coach Ahsen Boutelja, Mohammed Rashid Al Kubaisi and Ali Arshad (100m and 200m wheelchair racing) along with their coach Nabil Al-Muslimani. The female athlete, Sara Hamdi Masoud, will compete in discus throw, supported by her coach Walid Al Maghmoor.

Additionally, Qatar's delegation will compete in blind football with six players: Walid Al Kooheji, Mohammed Al Mohammed, Mohammed Beshir Al Kahlout, Abdulhadi Ali Al Murri, Abad Walid Al Shamali, and Akrami Ahmed, led by their coach Abdulqader Khadem.

The Qatari athletes are determined to excel in this edition of the games, aiming to win numerous medals, stand atop the podiums, and proudly hoist the Qatari flag high at this prestigious Asian sporting event.
