New Delhi, October 15 - His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, met with Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the President of the British House of Commons, on the sidelines of the ninth G20 Parliamentary Presidents Summit. This summit was organized by the House of Representatives of the Republic of India in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, under the theme "Parliaments for One Earth, One Family: One Future."
The meeting took place in the presence of a delegation from the Federal National Council, including His Excellency Marwan Al Muhairi, Mira Al Suwaidi, and Dr. Nidal Al Taniji, members of the Council. Also in attendance were His Excellency Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, the Secretary-General of the Council, Afra Al Basti, Deputy Secretary-General for Parliamentary Communications, and Tariq Ahmed Al Marzouqi, Deputy Secretary-General for Council Affairs.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the depth of cooperation and partnership between the two countries in various fields. They expressed their willingness to enhance parliamentary relations and strengthen coordination and consultation on matters of common interest, which are a priority for them. This follows the growing development observed in various areas of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, thanks to the support of the leaders of the two friendly countries.
They highlighted that the relations between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom are strong, historical, and continually evolving. There is significant coordination between the two parties in regional and international forums on matters of common interest.
His Excellency Saqr Ghobash emphasized the depth of relations between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, which span decades of collaborative work and effective cooperation, founded on mutual trust, respect, and shared values.
His Excellency also mentioned the parliamentary conference that will be held as part of the activities of the twenty-eighth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This conference will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates in December and is considered the largest international conference on climate action. Its goal is to unify global efforts to reduce the impacts of climate change, with an emphasis on the UK's active participation to achieve results that benefit the entire world.
His Excellency Saqr Ghobash extended an official invitation to Sir Lindsay Hoyle to visit the United Arab Emirates and participate in the parliamentary conference.
In response, the President of the British House of Commons expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in all parliamentary areas that support the directions and leadership of both nations
