The 54th session of the Human Rights Council, held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, witnessed the participation of a delegation from the UAE National Human Rights Council. The delegation was led by Her Excellency Fatima Al Kaabi, the Deputy Chair of the Council. They attended the session as "observers" during the adoption of the recommendations from the fourth periodic review of the United Arab Emirates on October 3, 2023.

Additionally, the delegation actively engaged in various side events focusing on human rights issues, which fell within the mandate and interests of the Council. These events aimed to enhance and protect human rights.

Her Excellency Fatima Al Kaabi emphasized that the Council's participation in the 54th session of the Human Rights Council aligns with their commitment to monitor international human rights developments. She highlighted the importance of conveying the global community's vision and the perspectives of non-governmental organizations regarding the continuous progress of the UAE in safeguarding human rights. She expressed appreciation for the recognition extended by nations and organizations for the UAE's efforts in promoting human rights, especially through the establishment of the National Human Rights Council based on the principles of Paris.

It was also noted that the presence of the UAE National Human Rights Council's delegation in the current session of the Human Rights Council indicates the UAE's keen interest in monitoring human rights developments and addressing international issues of current interest within this context.

The delegation of the UAE National Human Rights Council included Her Excellency Maryam Al Ahmadi, the Chair of the International Relations and Non-Governmental Organizations Committee; Ms. Alia Al Mazmi, Director of the Council's Office and its Committees in an acting capacity; and Mr. Abdulaziz Al Aoubthani, the Head of the International and Regional Organizations Department.
