UAE Search and Rescue Team Completes Humanitarian Mission in Morocco
In response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, a UAE search and rescue team successfully carried out its humanitarian mission in the Kingdom of Morocco. The mission aimed to provide assistance to our Moroccan brothers and sisters affected by an earthquake, underscoring the strong historical and fraternal ties that bind the two nations, both in leadership and among the people. This initiative enjoys the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brother, His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
Led by General Ali Al Matou, the head of the UAE team, the team's professionals worked diligently and professionally from the moment they arrived in the affected areas, coordinating seamlessly with Moroccan authorities. Their primary focus was on searching for survivors and individuals trapped under the rubble. They utilized state-of-the-art vehicles, equipment, and search and rescue tools, along with a skilled and trained team of individuals qualified to respond to natural disasters.
General Ali Al Matou praised the professionalism displayed by the Moroccan Armed Forces in executing rescue operations and delivering aid to the affected areas. He also commended the logistical support provided to the UAE search and rescue team, which greatly contributed to the team's success in delivering the necessary assistance.
General Ali Al Matou stated, "The mission of the UAE team is to support our Moroccan brothers and lend a helping hand through our internationally accredited team, operating according to the highest global standards. Our team has participated in numerous humanitarian missions worldwide, focusing on alleviating the suffering of those in need. This participation aligns with the fundamental values of the United Arab Emirates and its commitment to charitable and humanitarian work, as well as its rapid response to aid the distressed."
He further emphasized that the UAE team worked around the clock to ensure the achievement of the humanitarian mission's objectives. All field activities and daily planned scenarios were executed in full coordination with Moroccan authorities, from the mission's inception to the completion of rescue and support operations.
The UAE team comprises more than 135 individuals, including a specialized medical team for psychological support, operation and intervention tents, trained search dogs, and 28 diverse vehicles, including ambulances, assessment, command, reconnaissance, security inspection units, first responders, K9 units, search and rescue patrols, mobile workshops, transport vehicles, and emergency response trucks, along with equipped and specialized personnel capable of quickly responding to the most affected areas.
