Dubai, September 18 - The first annual gathering of "Global Future Councils" members in the United Arab Emirates set the stage for the upcoming Global Future Councils event, scheduled to take place from October 16 to 19, 2023, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss various global issues and challenges and work towards suitable solutions.

The event was attended by Her Highness Sheikha Shama bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the President and CEO of the UAE's Independent Climate Accelerators Authority. Also present at the gathering was His Excellency Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, who also serves as the Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office.

During the meeting, the agenda for the current Global Future Councils session was reviewed, focusing on top global trends and priority topics at both the local and global levels. These discussions encompassed the future of advanced industries and global value chains, the future of artificial intelligence, self-driving vehicles, the healthcare economy, cities, clean air, and a range of other topics and issues that Global Future Councils deliberate on and strive to find solutions for.

His Excellency Omar Al Olama emphasized that the United Arab Emirates is making significant strides in achieving global leadership in future sectors. The UAE's forward-thinking approach, particularly in investing in national talent and nurturing innovators across various fields, positions it as a model capable of keeping pace with global transformations and playing a pivotal role in shaping the future.

Global Future Councils serve as a recurring global platform for discussing the future of economic, social, and political systems in the face of rapid changes and global transformations. Their mission includes setting the agenda for the upcoming Davos conference with the participation of elite global figures and leaders.

The UAE is hosting the Global Future Councils for the fifth consecutive year as part of its strategic partnership with the World Economic Forum. It is expected that around 31 Global Future Councils and over 500 top thinkers, experts, and influencers from around the world will convene during the current session to discuss a range of critical global priority issues.

Among the participants at the meeting were Her Excellency Huda Al Hashemi, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs; Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai Government Media Office; His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al Mandous, Director-General of the National Center of Meteorology; His Excellency Engineer Sherif Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum in the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure; His Excellency Younis Al Nasser, Assistant Director-General of Smart Dubai; Salem Al Marri, Director-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre; Ahmed Behrozian, CEO of the Roads and Transport Authority; Ahmed Rashid bin Shabib; Dr. Huda Al-Blooshi, Director of Research and Innovation at the Dubai Electronic Security Center; Dubai Abualhoul, Founder of "Fikr" Platform; Ghanem Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the UAE Competitiveness Council; Dr. Patrick Noack, CEO of the Future, Foresight, and Imagination Department at the Dubai Future Foundation; and Dr. Saeed Khalafan Al Zahiri, Director of the Future Studies Center at the University of Dubai.
