Cannes Unites for a Better World: Leonardo DiCaprio and Global Personalities Illuminate the Better World Fund Gala

Cannes witnessed a remarkable gathering at the Carlton Cannes hotel, where the Better World Fund Gala took center stage. This event, dedicated to harnessing the power of cinema for the betterment of humanity, brought together a diverse array of passionate and creative individuals from around the world. Among the notable attendees were acclaimed actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Liz McComb, Arisa, Georges Tomb, Alok Petrillo, Yury Revich, Fisher Stevens, Kelly Piquet, Kiera Chaplin, Tony Nader, Hofit Golan, Swan Sit, Johanna Plafsky, Richard Orlinski, Alvaro Nuñez, Scottie Thomtson, Tom Volf, alongside esteemed figures like Minister Sonia Guajajara, Federal Deputy Célia Xakriabá, Secretary Osmar Almeida Junior, and the renowned Chief Raoni, all united by their shared desire to positively influence the future of our society.

Auction for a better World


The evening was masterfully orchestrated by Nadia Farès and Ghassan Yammine, guiding the attendees through a memorable experience. This year, the Better World Fund recognized individuals who have made significant contributions to social and environmental causes. Awards were presented to Arisa (Italy) and Liz McComb (USA) for their outstanding commitment, while Sônia Guajajara (Brazil) and Alice Chen (USA) were honored for their remarkable achievements. The event also celebrated the Academia for a Better World Trophy recipient Karine Gros (France) and acknowledged the Best Achievement in Cinematography Award winner Tom Volf. Additionally, Ahmad Jamal (USA) was posthumously awarded the Best Achievement Award, accepted by his daughter. Enzo Di Taranto (USA) and Alok Petrillo (Brazil) were recognized for their exemplary commitment, rounding out the list of esteemed recipients.

The funds raised during the Gala benefited the Akbaraly Foundation, represented by its founder Cinzia Akbaraly, an organization dedicated to promoting health, education, and a better quality of life for women and children in Madagascar. The event also supported the Amazônia Fund Alliance for the Brazilian Federation of UNESCO (BFUCA), an organization committed to preserving the Amazonian ecosystems.
