Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry: A Compelling Addition to the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes
Cannes, France - The Quinzaine des Réalisateurs is thrilled to present a captivating film from Switzerland, Georgia, and Germany, "Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry." Directed by Elene Naveriani, a Swiss resident originally from Georgia, this marks her third feature film.
Following the success of her debut film "I Am Truly A Drop Of Sun On Earth" premiered at Rotterdam in 2017, and the selection of "Wet Sand" at Locarno 2021 (co-written with her brother Sandro Naveriani), Naveriani returns with another compelling offering. "Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry" explores the life of a middle-aged single woman, brilliantly portrayed by Eka Chavleishvili, who cherishes her independence and singlehood. However, her world takes a turn when she falls in love with a man, forcing her to confront the choice between a relationship and continued independence.
Produced by Alva Film in Geneva, in collaboration with Takes Film from Tbilisi and Heimatfilm from Cologne, "Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry" presents a nuanced and thought-provoking exploration of love, independence, and the complexities of relationships. Naveriani unique perspective and storytelling prowess promise to captivate audiences at Cannes.
This powerful drama, with its remarkable performances and compelling narrative, is a testament to Elene Naveriani talent as a director. Audiences eagerly await the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of "Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry" and experience the emotional depth it offers.
