Saudi Arabia Unveils Ambitious Plans: 24 Theme Parks and 420 Entertainment Centres to Be Launched by 2030

Saudi Arabia is set to make a significant mark in the leisure and entertainment industry with the launch of 24 theme parks and 420 entertainment centres by 2030. The Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has endorsed this ambitious plan and established the Events Investment Fund (EIF) to support the creation of over 35 entertainment-based venues within the next decade. Additionally, the gaming industry in the country is expected to experience a remarkable 250% growth by 2030.

Saudi Arabia aims to attract over 100 million visitors annually by 2030, highlighting its commitment to diversify its economy beyond oil through leisure and entertainment offerings. The General Entertainment Authority has already issued licenses for 24 theme parks and over 421 entertainment centres, in line with the goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. Moreover, the development of giga projects such as The Red Sea Project, NEOM Mega City, and Riyadh Entertainment City is expected to further drive tourism in the country.

The Saudi leisure and entertainment market is projected to reach a value of $1.17 billion by the end of the decade, creating over 30,000 job opportunities. Industry experts and members of Menalac, the Middle East and North Africa Leisure and Attractions Council, are actively participating in the SEA Expo to explore opportunities, discuss infrastructure developments, and overcome challenges in order to shape a diversified and dynamic industry. Mishal Al Hokair, President of Menalac and Deputy CEO of Al Hokair Group, expressed the commitment to enhance the Kingdom's leisure and entertainment offerings, contribute to job creation, and support the Vision 2030 goals.

The SEA Expo serves as a platform for industry stakeholders to come together, exchange ideas, and work towards a vibrant and varied entertainment landscape. With the collaboration of local and international brands, Saudi Arabia aims to offer guests a wide range of high-quality and exciting experiences, bolstering its position as a thriving leisure and entertainment destination.
