UAE Plans to Increase Electric Vehicle Charging Outlets
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is taking steps to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure as part of its efforts to move away from traditional petrol and diesel cars.
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, announced that the ministry is currently examining new legislation for EV charging stations in the UAE. The aim is to develop regulations that will enable faster charging times, maintain high efficiency, and ensure affordable prices for EV owners.
Speaking at the World Utilities Conference 2023, Minister Al Mazrouei revealed that the country already has around 500 EV charging stations. However, there are plans to significantly increase this number to 800 outlets in the coming years.
