Dh15.6 Million Raised in Charity Telethon for Quake Victims

A remarkable philanthropic effort unfolded on Friday, as The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) and Sharjah Charity International (SCI) jointly organized a three-hour telethon, in partnership with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), to raise funds for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

The event, which was conducted under the guidance of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of TBHF, resulted in a collective donation of Dh15.64 million from both private and public entities.

The fundraising initiative, aligned with the UAE 'Bridges of Goodness' campaign, seeks to provide immediate relief assistance and long-term development support to those affected by the earthquakes. The funds will contribute to housing, healthcare services, education, and overall recovery efforts.

Notably, Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Charity International, highlighted the significance of the campaign in the context of Sharjah and the UAE humanitarian endeavors. He underscored that this initiative resonates with the UAE commitment to extending aid to those in need.

Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of TBHF, emphasized the gravity of the humanitarian crisis resulting from the earthquakes, necessitating a comprehensive and enduring response that encompasses emotional, moral, and financial support.

The campaign is open to both local and global contributions, and individuals can contribute through various channels such as hotline numbers, official websites, and in-person visits to the respective offices of TBHF and SCI.

Artists, media figures, and prominent personalities participated in the telethon, voicing their support for the affected communities and highlighting the importance of solidarity in times of crisis.

Notably, TBHF Ambassador Designate Hussain Al Jasmi expressed honor in participating in the humanitarian campaign, and Emirati actor Ahmed Al Jasmi acknowledged the strength of humanity values and solidarity in such challenging times. Syrian actress Shukran Murtaja commended the UAE and Sharjah efforts in revitalizing vital institutions and aiding affected communities.

The telethon not only demonstrated the community compassion but also emphasized the significant role that collective efforts play in fostering goodwill and support during times of distress.
