UAE Foreign Minister Meets President of East Timor to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with His Excellency José Ramos-Horta, the President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor. The meeting took place in Abu Dhabi and focused on strengthening friendly relations and exploring avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation in various areas, including the economy, trade, and investment, to further the developmental goals of both nations and benefit their respective populations.

The discussions also revolved around joint efforts in sustainability and climate change, within the context of the United Arab Emirates hosting the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) in the upcoming months of November and December. They highlighted the pivotal role of this global event in catalyzing substantial progress in global climate action.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan warmly welcomed His Excellency José Ramos-Horta, emphasizing the significance of the latter's working visit to the United Arab Emirates in fortifying cooperative relations between the two countries across various levels.

In response, His Excellency Ramos-Horta expressed his nation's eagerness to strengthen ties with the United Arab Emirates, acknowledging the UAE's pioneering experience in national development.
