Open AI Unveils Enhanced GPT-4 Turbo and Price Reductions for GPT-3.5 Turbo: OpenAI has recently shared noteworthy updates on its text embedding and moderation models, accompanied by improvements to its flagship models, GPT-4 Turbo and GPT-3.5 Turbo. These advancements are geared towards empowering developers with enhanced performance, efficiency, customization, and security for applications relying on natural language or code.
The initial iteration of GPT-4 was introduced by OpenAI in March 2023, becoming available to developers in July of the same year. During OpenAI DevDay on November 6, the company provided a sneak peek into the next iteration of this model, termed GPT-4 Turbo.
Certain users reported challenges with ChatGPT, highlighting issues where it either declined to respond to queries or did so inadequately, prompting OpenAI to address these concerns.
On December 8, OpenAI shared on X:
"We've taken note of your feedback regarding GPT-4 exhibiting reduced responsiveness! The model hasn't seen updates since November 11, and this certainly wasn't intentional. The model's behavior might be unpredictable, and we're actively working to rectify this."
As a response, OpenAI released an updated preview model of GPT-4 Turbo on January 25, labeled "gpt-4-0125-preview," specifying that "this model executes tasks such as code generation more comprehensively than the preceding preview model, aimed at mitigating instances of 'laziness' when the model falls short in performing a task."
The update also addresses bugs arising from challenges encountered by the previous preview model in generating text in languages other than English.
