UAE Red Crescent Launches Green Zone at Emirati Camp in Jordan
The UAE Red Crescent Authority inaugurated a green zone in the Emirati camp located in Marajeeb Al Fahoood, Jordan. The event was attended by Her Highness Sheikha Shama bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of the UAE Independent Accelerators for Climate Change, as well as His Excellency Hamoud Abdullah Al Jneibi, Acting Secretary-General of the Red Crescent, His Excellency Mohammed Yousuf Al Fahim, Deputy Secretary-General for Support Services, and His Excellency Khamees Jumaa Al Naemi, Head of the UAE Relief Team in Jordan, along with various officials and volunteers from the organization.
The green zone within the camp features several environmentally-friendly housing units. These units were designed with sustainable specifications and constructed entirely in the United Arab Emirates, using palm fronds and recyclable materials. The project received support from Abu Dhabi First Bank, a strategic partner of the UAE Red Crescent, and the housing units were transported to Jordan through the logistical partner, Aramex.
Her Highness Sheikha Shama bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan personally handed over the keys to the new housing units to young Syrian individuals who are about to embark on the journey of marriage. She also planted an olive tree within the camp, symbolizing the start of a new phase and a green journey for the camp and its facilities in the near future. During her visit, Sheikha Shama, along with the Red Crescent delegation, explored other facilities in the camp, including the Cultural Complex housing the Grand Library and the Umna Fatima Workshop, as well as the Sheikh Hamdan Hall. The children in the camp warmly welcomed the delegation with various folkloric performances.
