UAE Participation in the Virtual Emergency Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member Councils
Abu Dhabi, October 16 - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) played a significant role in the recent virtual emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member Councils. His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, the President of the Federal National Council, represented the UAE at this crucial gathering, where recent developments in the Palestinian territories and the broader region were discussed.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Omar Al-Nuaimi, the Secretary-General of the Federal National Council. In his address to the heads of parliaments from OIC member countries, Ghobash reiterated the UAE's unwavering stance that the Palestinian issue can only be resolved through a permanent, just, and comprehensive solution based on the three steadfast principles: relevant international references, the Arab Peace Initiative, and a return to the June 4, 1967 borders. This solution paves the way for the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Ghobash expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Ibrahim Boughali, the President of the People's National Assembly of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and the current president of the Union of OIC Member Councils, for convening this important meeting.
The UAE's active participation in the virtual emergency meeting reaffirms its commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region and advocating for a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The UAE remains dedicated to the principles of the OIC and its role in addressing pressing issues in the Islamic world.
The meeting's discussions underscored the importance of diplomatic efforts and international cooperation in resolving conflicts and promoting peace. The UAE's presence at this gathering exemplifies its ongoing commitment to contribute to the peace and prosperity of the region and the wider Islamic world.
