Suhail Al Mazrouei Leads UAE Delegation at UAE-Indonesian Economic Forum in Jakarta

Jakarta,  His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, headed the Emirati delegation participating in the UAE-Indonesian Economic Forum, which focused on bilateral economic cooperation. The forum took place last Thursday in the capital, Jakarta.

During his visit to Indonesia, H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei was received by His Excellency Joko Widodo, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, along with his accompanying delegation, in Solo. President Joko Widodo expressed Indonesia's warm welcome for the UAE's eagerness to enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia and the UAE. He also affirmed his country's readiness to support all aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

In turn, H.E. Al Mazrouei conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, to Indonesia and its people, wishing them further progress and prosperity.

H.E. Al Mazrouei emphasized the UAE's commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two friendly nations and strengthening collaboration in various fields to promote friendship and common interests.

He expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations, as both countries share a common vision for their future cooperation in the coming years.

H.E. Al Mazrouei also stated the UAE's willingness, along with its national companies, to contribute to the construction of the new Indonesian capital on Kalimantan Island.

He congratulated the friendly nations on the success of UAE companies, namely Masdar and PT PLN (Persero), in completing the Cirata Floating Photovoltaic Power Plant project in West Java, Indonesia. It is the world's largest floating solar power station. He expressed the desire of UAE companies to engage in more investment partnerships in the renewable energy sector in Indonesia, which he believes has the potential to become a green energy hub in Southeast Asia.

The forum discussed various economic and bilateral investment issues of common interest, including energy, mining, tourism, real estate development, and aviation. It also focused on mechanisms and means to expand regional cooperation opportunities and enhance trade and investment between the two countries.

H.E. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, recognized the UAE as a trusted strategic partner for Indonesia. He encouraged Emirati and Indonesian companies to seize the investment opportunities available in areas such as oil refineries, renewable energy, the construction of the new Indonesian capital, ports, airports, energy security, food security, national defense, satellites, and the environment and climate change.

H.E. Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian Minister of Defense, praised the significant progress in bilateral relations between the two countries and admired the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

In his opening speech, H.E. Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the UAE to Indonesia and East Timor, highlighted the importance of the UAE-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which came into effect on September 1, 2023. He called on both the public and private sectors in the UAE and Indonesia to benefit from this agreement. It will facilitate product access to both markets, exempt customs duties, remove unnecessary technical barriers to trade for Emirati and Indonesian exporters, and utilize international standards as the basis for technical regulations.

The forum explored various investment opportunities in economic sectors in Indonesia, such as export and import, fisheries, agriculture, real estate, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, oil and gas.

The UAE delegation, led by H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei, included high-ranking officials from various Emirati entities, including the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, Emirates Global Aluminium, Mubadala, ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Holdings, Abu Dhabi Ports, Etihad Rail, Emirates Airlines, Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), Etisalat, Tawazun, Sanad, Lulu Group, Louis Dreyfus Company, and the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
