The Fondation Gan for Cinema has announced the appointment of filmmaker Frédéric Farrucci, the 2023 winner for LE MOHICAN, as the president of the Aide à la Création jury for 2025. Every year, this initiative supports four first-time fiction projects, presented as screenplays, for first and second feature films.
Frédéric Farrucci succeeds prominent figures in French cinema, such as Katell Quillévéré, Marilyne Canto, Alice Winocour, Thomas Lilti, Christophe Honoré, Patricia Mazuy, Raja Amari, David Oelhoffen, Antonin Peretjatko, Erwan Le Duc, and actress Nathalie Richard.
In a statement, the director expressed his honor in presiding over the jury, emphasizing the importance of the support he received from the Fondation Gan for LE MOHICAN in 2023, which served as a "fantastic support" for him and encouraged him to continue exploring new narrative and formal directions. "It is with this memory, and the desire to offer the same warm welcome that I received, that I approach my role. I would like the plenary hearing to be an opportunity for open conversation between filmmakers, their producers, and the jury to understand as accurately and thoroughly as possible their project," he said. Frédéric Farrucci stresses the importance of highlighting strong and unique cinematic proposals, while focusing on the issues of direction and the alignment between the form and substance of the story.
The 2025 Aide à la Création jury will include:
- Claire Paoletti (Screenwriter and Producer)
- Denis Rostein (General Director of the UniversCiné platform)
- Richard Sidi (Director of La Maison du Film)
- Dominique Hoff (General Delegate of the Fondation Gan)
