H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, visited the headquarters of Dubai Customs to review the department’s strategic development and operational enhancement initiatives. The visit underscored Dubai Customs’ pivotal role in strengthening the emirate’s integrated security framework and ensuring safety at border crossing points.
Accompanying Sheikh Mansoor were Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, and His Excellency Omar Ali Salem Al Maidoor, Secretary General of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council.
During the visit, Sheikh Mansoor emphasized Dubai Customs’ vital role in supporting Dubai’s economic growth and reinforcing the UAE’s global competitiveness. He said, “In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safety and security at our border crossing points.” He praised Dubai Customs for its ongoing efforts to launch strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing its leadership in the customs sector and fostering a world-class customs system. This aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which focuses on driving sustainable economic growth.
Sheikh Mansoor also highlighted Dubai Customs' efforts in collaborating with key government entities to anticipate future challenges, ensuring the city’s readiness for a future shaped by innovation, technology, and sustainability. He added that these efforts contribute significantly to Dubai’s goal of becoming one of the world’s top three urban economies.
The visit included a detailed briefing from Dr. Abdulla Busenad on the organization’s strategic projects and initiatives, which have been developed with support from Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem expressed his appreciation for Sheikh Mansoor’s visit and emphasized the leadership’s unwavering commitment to supporting Dubai Customs’ development. “The guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed strengthens government operations, drives continuous development, and enhances the efficiency of customs operations, all of which are essential in maintaining Dubai’s position as a global trade hub,” he said.
Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, noted that the department continues to implement innovative, technology-driven initiatives to achieve high performance and security, aligning with Dubai’s strategic goals and enhancing the role of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council in safeguarding the city’s borders.
Omar Ali Salem Al Maidoor, Secretary General of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, stressed the importance of cooperation and information exchange between Dubai Customs and the Council, noting that it is crucial for ensuring optimal integration and efficiency in border security operations.
One of the key initiatives discussed during the visit was the Hatta Gateway Project, which has officially received approval for its design. This cutting-edge, integrated customs center will incorporate advanced technological solutions, including artificial intelligence, to enhance border security. The project is aimed at expanding the center’s capacity and ensuring it is prepared to address future border security challenges effectively.
