Hollywood megastar Penelope Cruz has been revealed as the latest brand ambassador for Emirates. The Dubai-based airline unveiled the Academy Award-winning actress as the face of their newest campaign in a video last week, which showcases Cruz living the high life on an Emirates A380.
But Penelope Cruz isn't the only international superstar who has appeared in commercials for the airline. Here, we delve into the archives and take a look back at six famous faces who have lent their star power to Emirates.
2023: Penelope Cruz
The brand ambassador for Emirates in 2023 is the iconic Hollywood superstar, Penelope Cruz. The actor and philanthropist expressed her delight in partnering with Emirates, stating, "after years of traveling with them on some of the most special trips in my life." In the series of commercials featuring Cruz, shot onboard the signature Emirates A380, she gets to experience all the exclusive luxuries that Emirates First and Business Class customers enjoy. From savoring cocktails in the lounge to showering at 30,000 feet and indulging in taste tests of caviar, the commercials showcase Emirates' finest offerings, encouraging travelers to Fly Better.
2021: Chris Hemsworth
Filmed in 2019 ahead of the original opening date of Expo 2020 Dubai, Emirates released this video in 2021, featuring Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, to promote the Expo, which was delayed by one year. The ad aimed to convey the key themes of Expo, including the energizing spirit of innovation, creativity, and the drive to create a better future. In the video, Hemsworth transports viewers from the iconic beaches of Dubai to its awe-inspiring skyline and the Expo 2020 Dubai site.
2017: Jeremy Clarkson
In 2017, an unusually dapper Jeremy Clarkson took the spotlight in a campaign for Emirates. Showcasing the airline's first-class offering, the British TV presenter manages to mislead viewers, making them think he is referring to a new car before the big reveal of Emirates' new first-class suite in 2017. The first-class suite boasts ultra-luxurious features, including a 32-inch full HD screen, a personal wardrobe with private stowage space for carry-on bags, and a sumptuous soft leather seat that reclines fully flat, among numerous other customizable positions for optimal comfort.
2015 - 2016: Jennifer Aniston
Beloved Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston, known for her role as Rachel in Friends, served as the face of Emirates' commercials for a couple of years. During that time, she starred in several brand videos, including the one mentioned above. In a tongue-in-cheek video, Aniston has a nightmare about flying with an airline that wasn't Emirates, one that lacked a lounge or showers onboard.
2014: Cristiano Ronaldo and Pele
Two footballing legends joined forces for a brilliantly amusing Emirates campaign in 2014, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The late Brazilian football legend Pele and current Al Nassr player Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in a video where fans separately swooned over the two stars.
