The murals at the Expo 2023 Doha showcase the Qatari heritage to visitors, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural and environmental tapestry of the country.
The artistic murals featured at the Expo 2023 horticultural exhibition in Doha serve as a testament to the Qatari environment and its multifaceted heritage, providing global visitors with a vivid portrayal of the nation's riches.
These artistic murals were a collaborative effort between the Qatar Museums Authority and the Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ihsan) and were crafted by renowned artists Abdul Rahman Al-Mutawa and Mubarak Al-Malik.
The murals, eagerly anticipated by most visitors, revolve around various themes related to Qatari heritage, authenticity, culture, the local environment, land and sea connections, pearl fishing activities, family and heritage symbols, incorporating elements of both ancient Qatari architecture and modern structures. They also incorporate indigenous Qatari flora like safflowers and palm trees.
These murals hold great significance as they serve as a means of preserving heritage and documenting the experiences of a nation during a specific era, while also allowing artists to express themselves and their role in society.
It's worth noting that the Qatar Museums are hosting a variety of activities, events, and exhibitions throughout the Expo 2023 Doha, which continues until March 28, 2024. This reflects their commitment to enriching both local and global communities through cultural exchange and dialogue.
The Qatar Museums have prepared programs for the different events during the Expo, all aligned with the event's main theme, "Green Desert, Better Environment," and addressing key topics such as sustainability, well-being, the natural world, agriculture, technology, mobility, and more.
