A film by David Cronenberg, Synopsis: While the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the human body is the object of new transformations and mutations. With the complicity of his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), famous performer, stages the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde shows. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator for the Office of the National Organ Registry, closely monitors their practices. It is then that a mysterious group appears: they want to take advantage of the notoriety of Saul to reveal to the world the next stage of human evolution...
The director's intention: CRIMES DU FUTURE is a reflection on the evolution of the human species. More specifically, on how we had to regain control of this evolution because we have created universes of insane power that did not exist previously. LES CRIMES DU FUTUR extends themes that I have already addressed. Fans will spot nods to scenes and passages from my previous films. It's a way to continue my exploration of technology related to the human body. Technology is always an extension of the human body, even when it seems mechanical and devoid of organs. The force of a punch can be increased tenfold with a baton or a thrown stone – but in the end, this baton or this stone remains the extension of a faculty already possessed by the human body. We are at a turning point in the history of mankind, and several questions ask themselves: can the human body evolve in such a way as to solve problems that we created? Can he generate a system that allows him to digest materials plastics and synthetics, not only with the aim of providing a solution to the climate change, but to grow, flourish and survive?
