Dubai Beach Lengths Set to Multiply Fivefold
Dubai coastline is poised for a remarkable transformation, with plans to expand its beach lengths by a staggering 400% by the year 2040, according to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of the Emirate.
Presently boasting 21 kilometers of public beaches, Dubai envisions a substantial increase to an expansive 105 kilometers within the next two decades. Concurrently, the development of dining establishments, shops, recreational facilities, and water sports zones is set to escalate by 300%.
In pursuit of these aspirations, new urban projects will be undertaken to bolster tourism infrastructure, aiming to fortify Dubai status as a premier global destination for both tourists and residents. "Dubai will persistently outdo itself, becoming a paragon for visitors and citizens alike," declared Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.
The government overarching ambition is to consolidate Dubai preeminent stature as a magnificently developed and aesthetically alluring metropolis while preserving its distinctive character marked by success and extraordinary accomplishments.
To augment the beach experience, Dubai Municipality has already inaugurated three public beaches – located in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 – designed specifically for night swimming. These 800-meter-long stretches of shoreline are equipped with advanced lighting systems that facilitate round-the-clock beach activities.
Additionally, the beaches are outfitted with specialized LED displays, offering essential information about safe night swimming. A dedicated team of lifeguards ensures swimmers' safety during nighttime hours.
Recognizing that tourists may not always have leisure time during the day, this initiative aligns with Dubai strategic goal of enhancing its reputation as the world ultimate destination for travel and tourism. The initiative also echoes the municipality commitment to offering unique experiences that cater to diverse preferences.
While promoting nocturnal beach activities, the municipality urges beachgoers to adhere to designated swimming areas, abstain from venturing into the sea on unlit beaches, and maintain vigilance over their children safety. The call for responsible beachgoing is in tandem with the commitment to keep Dubai beaches clean and inviting for all.
