Dubai News Real Estate: Modern Rest Areas for Truck Drivers Coming to Dubai

Modern Rest Areas for Truck Drivers Coming to Dubai

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled an ambitious project aimed at enhancing road safety and driver convenience. The initiative involves the construction of 19 cutting-edge rest areas dedicated to truck drivers. Covering a sprawling expanse exceeding 300,000 square meters, these zones will have the capacity to accommodate over 1,000 lorries.

The project will introduce three comprehensive integrated truck parking facilities, establishing partnerships with key entities. One of these strategic collaborations is with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), while the remaining two are formed with Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration.

The integrated truck parking areas are meticulously designed to offer truck drivers a comprehensive suite of essential services, ensuring a comfortable and secure experience. These zones will incorporate essential amenities such as fuel stations, motels, service centers, dining establishments, administrative buildings, prayer rooms, clinics, pharmacies, currency exchange outlets, laundries, and more.

The first facility, operated by Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration, will be strategically situated along Mohammed bin Rashid Highway in proximity to the Jebel Ali Free Zone and Al Maktoum International Airport. Encompassing an expansive area of 100,000 square meters, it can host up to 200 trucks.

The second ADNOC-operated facility will find its place on Emirates Road, conveniently located near Al Tai Racecourse. This area will span 76,000 square meters and accommodate up to 150 trucks.

The third truck parking area, also under the management of Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration, is planned at the entrance to Dubai Industrial City. Occupying an area of 51,000 square meters, it will offer space for up to 120 trucks.

Further enhancing the network, RTA and ADNOC will collaborate to construct an additional 16 truck stops across Dubai pivotal traffic hubs. RTA CEO Mattar Al Tayer emphasized the substantial contribution of organized driver facilities in enhancing road safety, projecting a potential reduction of up to 50% in truck-related accidents.
