Launch of Experimental Public Transportation System on Abu Dhabi Island
The Integrated Transport Center of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has announced the commencement of the experimental operation of the Automated Rapid Transit (ART) vehicle project on Abu Dhabi Island. This initiative is part of the center's ongoing efforts to enhance the public transportation system and network, aiming to improve traffic flow for residents and visitors of Abu Dhabi. The goal is to support local development across various sectors.
All relevant teams have taken necessary measures to ensure that the integrated infrastructure meets high standards of efficiency and quality, in line with the center's methodology to provide passengers with the highest levels of safety.
The experimental phase of the project has begun with buses operating on a non-rail transit system, marking a significant advancement in the transportation sector. This phase encompasses 25 stations along a route approximately 27 kilometers long. During the experimental phase, the service will run from Friday to Sunday, with the first journey commencing from Al Reem Mall to Marina Mall, passing through Zayed the First Street and Corniche Street on Abu Dhabi Island.
The smart mobility strategy in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi aims to establish an efficient and sustainable transportation sector, utilizing modern technology to enhance transportation system efficiency and support the transition to environmentally friendly and sustainable means of transportation.
