ADIPEC Awards 2023: Global Energy Pioneers Honored: The ADIPEC Awards 2023 recently recognized and honored eight groundbreaking projects, companies, and individuals contributing significantly to the ongoing global energy transition. These outstanding achievers hail from various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Israel, and the United States.

Themed 'Leading the Transformation,' the 13th ADIPEC Awards Ceremony, held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, brought together leaders and dignitaries from the energy, technology, and government sectors. Across eight award categories, the ceremony acknowledged remarkable accomplishments in the broader energy sector, celebrating those at the forefront of initiatives promoting net-zero emissions, decarbonization, and an equitable energy transition.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and ADIPEC Awards 2023 Juror, expressed pride in attracting some of the world's most innovative companies and individuals during the UAE's Year of Sustainability. He emphasized the crucial need for tangible solutions to address climate change challenges and decarbonization.

Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chairperson of ADIPEC Awards 2023 and Executive Vice President of Downstream Business Management at ADNOC, highlighted the pivotal role played by this year's awardees in leading the global energy transition. She anticipated that their achievements would serve as inspiration for innovators across the energy sector, encouraging them to intensify efforts towards a more sustainable global energy system.

Among the distinguished honorees was Professor Ernest J. Moniz, CEO of the US-based Energy Futures Initiative, receiving the Leader of Change – Passionate Driver of Progress Award. Professor Moniz, renowned for his advocacy of energy innovation pathways and international security, emphasized the significance of the award during the UAE's COP28 year.

Lee Kian Seng, Product Manager, Technology Digital Solutions at PETRONAS, Malaysia, received the Young Changemaker of the Year Award for his role in driving transformative changes within PETRONAS, particularly in big-data analytics projects.

Other notable winners included Carbon Clean from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, securing the Clean Energy Technology Innovation of the Year Award, and LanzaTech from the United States, earning the Decarbonisation at Scale Award for its innovative carbon capture process in China.

Malaysia's PETRONAS Research was recognized as the ADIPEC Awards Developing Economies Energy Company of the Year for its technology solution addressing high carbon dioxide fields in developing countries. Additionally, ADNOC received the Future Energy Workforce Development Programme Award for its strategic initiative in collaboration with SLB.

Israel's H2Pro was honored with the Transformative Hydrogen Project Award for its E-TAC methodology, showcasing green hydrogen production at remarkable energy efficiency levels. The Game-Changing Partnership Award went to ADNOC Onshore and the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) for their collaborative efforts in sourcing grid power from renewable energy, supporting operational decarbonization.

This year's ADIPEC Awards, featuring a record-breaking 1,072 entries from 78 countries, marked a significant platform for addressing global challenges in universal access to cleaner and more secure energy. The awards ceremony played a pivotal role in the larger context of ADIPEC, the world's largest energy conference and exhibition, focused on accelerating collective, responsible action to decarbonize and future-proof the energy system under the theme 'Decarbonising. Faster. Together.'
