Qatar Secures Hosting Rights for Web Summit MENA, Aiming to Transform Doha into a Global Tech Hub
In a groundbreaking development, Qatar is set to host one of the world's premier technology conferences, Web Summit, for the first time in the MENA region. The event is scheduled to kick off in February 2024 and will continue to be held in Qatar for the subsequent five years.
Leading up to its role as the host nation, representatives from Qatar Tourism actively participated in Web Summit 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal. This engagement allowed them to establish connections with influential figures in the technology industry who are slated to attend the inaugural Web Summit edition in Qatar.
Running from February 26 to 29, 2024, Web Summit Qatar is poised to link the global tech community with burgeoning ecosystems across the Middle East, Africa, and India. Over the next five years, it is anticipated to generate fresh opportunities for thousands of international investors and industry leaders, facilitating connections, networking, and paving the way for a future driven by innovation.
Highlighting Qatar's pivotal role, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office (GCO), commented on the country's active participation in Web Summit Lisbon. He expressed the intention to leave a distinctive mark, offering a preview of what awaits visitors at Doha's edition of this prestigious technology forum.
