ADIPEC 2023 Galvanizes Collective Action Towards a Zero Emission Future

ADIPEC 2023 Galvanizes Collective Action Towards a Zero Emission Future

Christopher Hudson, CEO of DMG Events and organizer of ADIPEC 2023, has expressed the event's aim to unite efforts from various sectors, businesses, and individuals to drive urgent collective action towards a zero-emission future. He emphasized that decarbonization lies at the core of ADIPEC's agenda, evident from the conference program featuring over 200 strategic and technical sessions focusing on carbon elimination. The reduction of carbon emissions stands as a pivotal goal for ADIPEC 2023.

In a statement to the Emirates news agency, WAM, Christopher Hudson explained that ADIPEC's comprehensive program spans valuable sessions, exhibitions, and advanced innovations, highlighting international endeavors to prioritize carbon removal from the energy system while promoting economic progress.

He underscored that ADIPEC's conference program comprises more than 200 strategic and technical sessions centered around carbon elimination, making carbon reduction the primary theme of the conference. Additionally, the strategic conference dedicated to decarbonization, now in its second year, brings together energy sector leaders to discuss topics such as overcoming barriers to decarbonization efforts, mobilizing funding for low-carbon technologies, and the pivotal role of innovation in accelerating the transition towards a cleaner energy future.

Initiatives like the Carbon Emission Reduction Accelerator, which unites leading organizations in carbon elimination, aim to establish partnerships capable of driving significant changes and implementing carbon removal strategies, thereby creating a carbon-free future more rapidly.

Within the accelerator, the Start-up Center will host a group of pioneers providing innovative technologies that pave the way for decarbonization's future and expedite advancements in the energy sector.

Christopher Hudson emphasized that every government, sector, business, and individual has a role to play in accelerating the pace of decarbonization, fostering a cleaner and safer energy future while ensuring energy security and an open space for everyone's participation in creating low-carbon pathways towards a sustainable future with higher growth rates.

This year, ADIPEC launches under the theme "Faster Decarbonization Together," aiming to bring energy sector decision-makers, innovators, and financiers together to expedite collective and responsible action, remove carbon more swiftly, and prepare the energy system to meet future requirements and challenges.

Christopher Hudson added that continuous dialogue with stakeholders, both within and outside the energy sector, enables ADIPEC to stay at the forefront, enhancing its ability to identify the sector's most pressing challenges, which are addressed through a comprehensive events agenda.

Some of the significant challenges facing the energy sector this year include methane emissions reduction, support for efforts to decarbonize heavy industries, facilitating funding and investments in low-carbon and clean energy technologies, and broadening the scope of decarbonization efforts in general.

Regarding the aspirations of ADIPEC 2023 in terms of visitors and exhibitors, Christopher Hudson expressed a desire to contribute to solutions for the sector's most significant challenges on the path to achieving net-zero emissions. ADIPEC 2023 aims to establish a platform where different countries, sectors, businesses, and individuals come together to collaborate and form intersectoral partnerships to work on the development and sharing of solutions.

He highlighted that ADIPEC 2023 serves as a forum to present ideas, stimulate innovation and technological development. Over 1,600 speakers, including 40 ministers and over 120 top business leaders from around the world, will participate in more than 350 sessions during the ten strategic and technical conferences. They will share critical strategies and solutions to achieve a cleaner and safer energy future.

ADIPEC is expected to draw over 160,000 participants from around the world who will have the opportunity to network with over 2,200 companies in the energy supply chain presenting their innovations and pioneering projects in 16 exhibition halls.

Regarding ADIPEC's role in inspiring future energy leaders, Christopher Hudson emphasized the central role that youth play in the energy sector's future and global energy transition. To ensure the next generation's participation, ADIPEC provides a platform for young people to gain the knowledge required for future leadership in energy solutions.

In addition to the existing ADIPEC youth program and the expanded Future Leaders program, designed to engage young people in the energy sector, this year sees the introduction of the first-ever ADIPEC Youth Global Council. The ADIPEC Youth Global Council will bring together 20 qualified university students and young professionals to contribute to shaping discussions at ADIPEC.

During the event, members of the ADIPEC Youth Global Council will work with policymakers and leaders in energy transition, engaging in intergenerational dialogues on energy transition. They will serve as moderators during ADIPEC Future Leaders Conference sessions and participate in discussions with CEOs, government leaders, and experts from various sectors.

Members will also take part in a roundtable on ADIPEC leadership alongside energy sector leaders to discuss the integration of the next generation of qualified talent into the energy transition.

The ADIPEC youth program targets high school students aged 14 to 17 and seeks to inspire future change-makers, enabling them to work together and play an essential role in creating a more comprehensive and advanced energy future.

The 11th edition of the ADIPEC Youth Conference is fully supported by the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Education and Knowledge, celebrating today's youth and presenting a wide range of career opportunities in the energy sector.

The ADIPEC youth program recognizes the benefits of hands-on learning, offering field trips and workshops to provide young people with invaluable opportunities to gain practical experience and enhance their understanding of what awaits them when choosing a career in the energy sector.

In addition to the experiential educational program, ADIPEC offers a graduate program, an ambassador program, and regular conferences under the youth program, all focused on increasing youth engagement in the future of energy.

Regarding how the "ADIPEC Awards" categories are designed to address the challenges of the energy sector and support global energy transition, Christopher Hudson mentioned that the "ADIPEC Awards 2023" are organized under the theme "Leading the Transformation." This theme reaffirms the awards' objective to honor individuals and organizations leading a qualitative change in the energy sector, paving the way for a sustainable future and promoting solutions that bring about radical change.

He added that this year's awards include eight new categories designed to address the challenges facing the energy sector and support energy transition efforts. These categories encompass various aspects, including qualitative partnerships, transformative projects on hydrogen, innovation in clean energy technologies, and large-scale decarbonization projects.

Highlighting the significance of introducing new categories at this moment, the ADIPEC Awards 2023 received the highest number of submissions in their history, with 1,072 entries from 78 countries, of which 21 have qualified for the final round. These submissions represent diversity, including the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Two new jury members have been added to reflect the focus of the new award categories on carbon elimination, and these new members bring expertise in clean technologies and climate policies.

The distinguished jury now comprises ten prominent international experts in the energy field. The committee is responsible for evaluating the submitted entries to determine the winners, who will be announced at an exclusive ceremony on October 2, 2023.
