Sharjah Ruler Orders Equal Treatment for Citizens’ Children in Scholarships

Sharjah Ruler Orders Equal Treatment for Citizens' Children in Scholarships

In a significant and inclusive move, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah, has issued a directive to the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) to treat the children of female citizens equally with male citizens when it comes to awarding scholarships. Currently, there are 72 Emirati male and female students who will benefit from this directive, with the reimbursement of any amounts previously paid by those who have already settled their fees, facilitated through the Sharjah Amiri Diwan.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's announcement was made through the "Direct Line" program, which is broadcasted via the Sharjah Radio and Television. This directive marks a significant step towards gender equality and empowerment, ensuring that the educational aspirations of female citizens' children are treated with the same level of importance as their male counterparts.

The decision to extend equal scholarship opportunities to the children of female citizens is a testament to Sharjah's commitment to promoting inclusivity and ensuring that all segments of its population have equal access to educational opportunities. This directive reflects the broader vision of the Emirate to empower its citizens and provide them with the necessary tools and resources to excel in various fields.

This progressive step sends a clear message that Sharjah recognizes the value of investing in the education of its youth, irrespective of their gender. It underscores the Emirate's commitment to breaking down gender barriers and fostering an environment where every individual, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to reach their full potential through education.

Furthermore, the reimbursement of fees for those who have already paid underscores the Ruler's commitment to ensuring that no one is unfairly burdened by the financial aspect of pursuing higher education. This demonstrates a deep sense of responsibility towards the welfare and prosperity of all citizens.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi's directive to provide equal scholarship opportunities for the children of female citizens is a commendable and progressive move that further enhances Sharjah's reputation as a forward-thinking and inclusive Emirate. This decision not only benefits the current generation of students but also paves the way for a brighter, more equitable future for all of Sharjah's citizens.
