Next-Gen Retail Talent Takes Centre Stage at MAPIC Academy 2024.

MAPIC, the world’s leading event dedicated to retail real estate, is proud to announce the finalists for its highly anticipated MAPIC Academy 2024, an initiative that celebrates the next generation of retail talent. These finalists bring fresh perspectives, groundbreaking innovations, and an emphasis on sustainability and inclusivity to the global retail scene. Their concepts are set to revolutionize the way consumers engage with brands and shops, paving the way for the future of retail.

The MAPIC Academy, running from 26-28 November 2024 in Cannes, has selected five exceptional brands from Europe and beyond, each demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to retail. The finalists were evaluated based on their commitment to sustainability, innovative concepts, and scalability in international markets.

The MAPIC Academy Finalists for 2024:

  1. Active Rock (Switzerland)
    A Swiss brand specializing in performance sports socks crafted from sustainable, plant-based materials, designed to support active lifestyles with comfort and durability.
  2. Ça va savon (Belgium)
    Creators of the first water-free powder-to-liquid body gel, promoting eco-conscious bathroom routines and reducing water waste in everyday personal care products.
  3. Free Form Style (Spain)
    Spain’s first inclusive fashion brand, designing clothing that caters to the specific needs of individuals with disabilities, ensuring style and comfort for all.
  4. Kodamer L'Épicerie Africaine (France)
    An online African fine grocery store offering a curated selection of premium African culinary products, bringing authentic flavors from Africa to the global market.
  5. Skin Gourmet (Ghana)
    A beauty brand that handcrafts skincare products made from 100% natural, edible ingredients sourced directly from Ghanaian farmers, emphasizing purity and sustainability.

This initiative connects innovative new brands with established industry players, giving them a platform to showcase their concepts and expand into physical retail spaces. In partnership with Nhood and Ingka, the MAPIC Academy provides a comprehensive program designed to support these finalists. Each brand will receive mentorship from industry experts, a dedicated space at the MAPIC exhibition, and a €10,000 financial grant. The winner will also have the incredible opportunity to open a pop-up store in one of Nhood and Ingka’s shopping centers, significantly accelerating their entry into the European market.

MAPIC 2024, set to take place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, is expected to welcome over 1,600 brand representatives and 700 exhibitors. The event continues to be a central hub for international retail leaders, providing unrivaled networking opportunities and insights into the latest trends shaping the future of the retail industry.

The MAPIC Academy 2024 finalists represent the next wave of retail innovation, and their participation in this year’s event will no doubt inspire and challenge established retail brands to rethink their approach to consumer experiences.
