Saudi Arabia Rolls Out First Autonomous Delivery Robots in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia is making headlines with the debut of its first autonomous food delivery service in Riyadh’s ROSHN Front Business Area. The initiative is a collaboration between the ROSHN Group and Jahez and is licensed by the Transport General Authority.

The pilot uses five autonomous robots equipped with over 20 sensors, GPS, advanced cameras, and climate-controlled compartments. These features ensure food deliveries are safe, timely, and high-quality—even in the Kingdom’s extreme heat.

This service aims to tackle multiple urban challenges. By reducing the number of traditional delivery vehicles, it helps lower emissions, ease traffic congestion, and improve overall air quality. The initiative also represents a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s pursuit of smart, sustainable cities.

The service is expected to expand to residential areas and shopping centers, integrating autonomous technology into daily life. City officials highlight its role in demonstrating how robotics and AI can enhance urban services, improve efficiency, and support environmental sustainability.

The program reflects Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, which focus on technological innovation, sustainable development, and smart urban infrastructure. Experts note that the successful deployment of autonomous robots in Riyadh could serve as a model for other cities in the region.

The project illustrates the Kingdom’s commitment to leveraging technology to create modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible cities. Autonomous food delivery in Riyadh showcases how innovation can improve quality of life, reduce emissions, and position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in smart urban solutions.
