The Sultanate of Oman has proudly announced that two nationally led projects have been shortlisted for the MIPIM Awards 2026, a global benchmark for excellence in real estate and urban development.
A’Thuraya City – New Mega Development Category
A’Thuraya City is a 1,700-hectare coastal hillside development, master-planned to redefine climate-responsive urban living in Oman. The project is designed as a fully integrated mixed-use city, combining residential neighborhoods, hospitality, retail, cultural assets, and mobility frameworks in a phased, infrastructure-led delivery model.
Rooted in Oman’s natural topography and heritage, A’Thuraya City represents the next generation of destination-driven urban development, balancing environmental sensitivity with global investment appeal.
Harat Al Aqr – Urban Regeneration Category
Harat Al Aqr is a government-led heritage regeneration project aimed at revitalizing one of Oman’s most historic districts in Nizwa. The program restores the traditional urban fabric while introducing sustainable economic activity through adaptive reuse, hospitality, public spaces, and cultural programming.
The project demonstrates how heritage conservation can catalyze long-term socio-economic growth while preserving architectural identity, community value, and Oman’s authentic cultural legacy.
