Nahyan bin Zayed Visits Liwa Date Festival and Auction
Al Dhafra, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, paid a visit to the second session of the Liwa Date Festival and Auction. This event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the representative of the sovereign in the Al Dhafra region. The festival is organized by the Committee for the Management of Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Emirates Heritage Club.
His Highness commenced his visit with an exploration of the festival's art exhibition, which showcases 205 artistic works, including photographs and paintings depicting palm trees, dates, and the natural environment of the Al Dhafra region. He also inspected the international press exhibition, which features news clippings from various international newspapers and publishing sites.
During his visit, His Highness explored the Honey Village, the International Cuisine Corner, the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition Corner, and the Heritage Village. He met with the festival's participants and workers, receiving a brief explanation from Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Director of Planning and Projects at the Committee for the Management of Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals, regarding the contests and various festival activities.
His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan also met with the members of the date auction and date packaging arbitration committees, learning about the participation of local farmers in the Shishi date auction and date packaging competition, in which the nation's producers and manufacturers take part.
His Highness further visited the pavilions of both government and private agencies participating in the festival, where he received valuable insights, studies, research, and techniques related to palm cultivation and various agricultural practices.
His Highness witnessed part of the date auction activities and observed the competitive process among participants in acquiring luxury dates from the United Arab Emirates. He also received information about the date market exhibits and related industries, featuring the participation of numerous local farmers and factories in the country.
